So I decide that I should purchase my wig ahead (pun intended) of time, so that the wig fitter could see what my natural hair looked like BEFORE it actually fell out! To be honest I really didn't have to because most of the wigs I tried on were FAR from my natural hair. They were styles that I would love to wear but because my hair is so thick I cannot.... we'll couldn't until now!!!! I still think it was good to go in advance as I think it would be more traumatic to wait until it actually fell out.
I took my husband Steve and my girlfriend Amy and her daughter Hope with me (always good to have a little "hope" along with you). Hope wasn't very verbal about my choices but I soon figured out that "smelly sock face" mean a resounding "no" and a big toothy grin was a "yes".
I tried on a bunch of wigs and Amy took pictures which I will post here when she sends them to me - believe it or not our second choice was a shoulder length brownish blonde job - totally not what I would have expected. I actually went home with the very first wig I tried on - it's that gut instinct thing again.
So it's staring at my from my bedroom bureau as I type this, standing watch, waiting patiently for it's big debut which might be a family wedding in late August... boy I hope it's not too hot that day as I hear these things are itchy and sweaty.... might have to have a back-up hat :)
Here are the top Four with the winner FIRST... but I really like #2 as well even though it's blonde and I thought I'd never be a blonde.
