July 27, 2010 - Lime Mint Tic Tacs are my friend...

Tue, Jul 27 2010 by Charlene

I remember reading somewhere that the chemo could sometimes leave a metallic taste in your mouth.... well they weren't kidding. Starting last night it has tasted like I had a big wad of Reynolds Alumininum Foil rolled up in my mouth. In desperation I went to the employee store at work to scope out breath mints to help me get through the day..... I opted for Lime Mint Tic Tacs - they are small, low in calories and kill the damn metallic taste.... albeit only temporarily while you are sucking on them... then it comes right back....

On the up side today was Meatloaf day in the cafeteria - YAY!!! Damien, one of the cooks, makes the BEST meatloaf!!! Even though my stomach has not been good for the last couple of days I ordered the meatloaf and figured it was worth the pain I might suffer later for that decision. Honestly, I was feeling pretty groggy before lunch and after eating the miracle meatloaf I feel better - perhaps it not only tastes good but has mediciinal qualities??? Either that or my red blood cell counts were low and the iron perked me up !!! It was FANTASTIC.... made it almost worth coming to work today.

Got two phone calls this afternoon. The first was to schedule my appointment for the results from my genetic testing - I will get those on Thursday. The second call was from the surgeons office, I have a consultation on Friday regarding my mediport, then the actual installation of the port will be on Monday @ 5:00pm. Just something new and exciting every single day.... oh joy.

To be continued...
